Listening Post

As I've mentioned before, I rarely post bootleg videos.

Maybe it's a testament to just how pristine Jonatha Brooke's sound is, however, that even a performance of hers recorded on a tiny digicam can be surprisingly affecting.

Why this woman isn't the biggest star on Earth, I'll never know.

Here's Linger.

And, from her most recent album, Careful What You Wish For, a gut-punch version of Prodigal Daughter.

She is amazing. I checked her out after your music post awhile back. The biggest reason why she isn't big is that she has actual talent...and probably enough self-respect not to change herself or music just to make the bucks. I heard it said once and I agree, if Bob Dylan came around in today's music scene he wouldn't even be offered a record deal. The execs would probably laugh in his face.

Oh, my...I've been in love with "Ten Cent Wings" (the album...and the song, actually) since I was 15. I only know two other people who have ever heard of her, so good on ya!

The blend of voice and guitar reminds me a bit of Ani DiFranco.
