This Year's Love

Over the past several chaotic days, quite a lot's been written about me -- and a few longtime readers have been astute enough to pick up on a pretty noteworthy fact that's been buried in much of the copy.

Jayne and I are having a baby.

In some ways it's damn cool that it was officially announced in the New York Times, but I have to admit that I wanted to mention it here first.

Oh well.

The due date for the new Pazienza is August 4th, and Mom and Dad couldn't be happier.

Jesus. That's just what this world needs... A Mini-Malcontent.
Well done, you guys.

Congratulations, Chez. I didn't realize what I had said until I read over it again, probably because I thought you had already mentioned it.

And yes, you can name the kid after me. I was a bit apprehensive at first, but now I think it would be cool.

Congrats! Pazienza Minor will get kicked out of every nursery school for telling his/her friends that their favorite stuffed animals are morons and that their finger-painting is puerile and contributing to the downfall of modern society. He/she will be adorable.

Congratulations sucker! :) Are you going to post pictures of the ultrasounds? I know, that's asking a lot.

My daughter's just had 3 tantrums in a row because I keep telling her not to get into the stuff on my husband's desk. You're going to have so much FUN!!!! ha!

May the Blessings of the Spirit of My People be upon your wigwam.

May Mother Earth make baby strong like bear.

May Father Sun make baby grow tall like great tree.

May Grandfather Owl make baby wise like medicine man.

May Grandmother River make baby fast like fox. Or Cheetah. Or Meerkat. But not eat bugs like Meerkat.

May Second Cousin Moon (on side of Father Sun but never remember to send card at holiday time, him so self-absorbed, but Raoul understand, him under much stress lately, what with new job at factory and brother in jail for stealing white man cop car and go on joy ride, but him have drinking problem and need forgiveness and sweat lodge medicine not harsh judgment, and where was I?) ...give baby silky, shiny coconut hair, which everyone know all squaws of My People prefer.

Hot damn! I know you've mentioned previously how much you want children with Jayne, so I'm happy that the two of you are finally making it happen. Congratulations!

I'd thought that perhaps you hadn't mentioned it here on purpose, so I'm glad to know the reporter didn't relate something you two wanted to keep private! Lil' P will be here before you know it, enjoy some sleep while you can!!

Congratulations Jayne and Chez! Little Cloverfield Stinson Pazienza will be here before you know it.

What are you going to do when he or she turns into as much of a misanthropic smartass as you? :D

PS: I did think you were hiding it from us on purpose too.

Much peace! We have a 4-month old and the one thing I can tell you is to catch the baby when the new Pazienza comes out. Seriously, besides getting over my fear of having to be responsible for another life (I'm a reformed asshole/people user), the best thing I've done so far was catching that baby. You'll never do anything as cool in your whole life.

Dude, you've been on one helluva roller coaster! Take it from a proud father of two girls, this type of "high", beats the ever loving shit out of damn near any type of "low."

Well done.

My very best wish for you and you growing family !

I was fired a few months before our first child was born. My initial response was to busy myself with chores. After our first was born it took 4 months before I realized I hadn't been enjoying and celebrating in the unique life that was in my arms. It took my son reaching out and touching my face to snap me out of the fog I had been in from being fired.

Again I wish you the very best in the new course your life has and will take.
