And from that brief period when all the New Romantic bands tried butching up and growing facial hair, it's the band that spawned Heaven 17 -- The Human League -- with The Lebanon.

I remember thinking the first time that I heard this, "Where's the bass?" Still kind of feels that way. John Wilson's work on Penthouse and Pavement was inspired. Wish they could have done more together. Still, a very good album.

i happen to like the human league, one of the first admittedly artifical bands, with a constantly changing stream of characters. my favorite song: are you ever coming back? great break up music!
