Look Back in Languor: Jesus Loves Me, This I Know; For My Parents Tell Me So (10.08.06)

Over the past year, I've taken aim at religion on several occasions, but one particular column stirred up a surprising amount of ferocious debate.

On the occasion of the first anniversary of this little experiment of mine, my admittedly cheap and lazy look back at the most irritating, humorous, entertaining, annoying, and thought-provoking posts of the last year continues.

We saw the Jesus Camp film last month and I was shocked by it http://nancynearphiladelphia.blogspot.com/2007/04/jesus-camp.html too.

Despite being very involved with my non-fundy Christian church, I have days -- more than I care to admit, actually -- when I think the way that you do.

What keeps me going back to church isn't the promise of life after death, but rather the belief that the best principle I can find for organizing my life is "love your neighbor."

Understood. My only argument has always been that you don't need to know "God" to know the truth of that statement.
