Listening Post

The Secret Machines are one of my favorite bands -- and I couldn't even begin to tell you why. I love them for the same reason that I never get tired of reading T.S. Eliot's Prufrock or watching the last five minutes of American Beauty.

Some things really can't be put into words, so I'd simply suggest clearing the next twelve minutes of your schedule and watching the moving, surprising, daring, perplexing and absolutely astonishing videos for Alone, Jealous and Stoned and Lightning Blue Eyes, from last year's damn-near perfect record Ten Silver Drops.

How come every band you like looks the same?

You teenage girls are all the same

Damn, looks like everyone had their daily recommended allowance of "Hater-Aid" this morning (but Manny did have a point).

Interesting group. I've not heard of them before and after having watched both the vids twice now, I still don't know exactly what to make of them (I like them, but I don't know if it's because of the vids or the songs).

Regardless, thanks much for the heads up (tho I do miss you gushing over Good Charlotte).

Happy anniversary, kid -- for both occasions. Salude.

Irregahdless of the music, I'm just thrilled to find another Prufrock lover.

The tattoos down my forearms are written in runes -- one arm says "Murder" -- the other "Create."

That's how much I love Prufrock.
